ITTC Welcomes Billie Flynn
ITTC is pleased to welcome Billie Flynn to the team as a consultant in the development of 5th Generation flying, training and test pilot capabilities. His leadership and experience as a global senior experimental test pilot will contribute to the development of the ITTC curricula ensuring that future test pilots and flight test engineers are prepared for advanced aircraft handling as well as mission systems testing. His experience in flying the most advanced 5th Gen fighter in the world today will be leveraged in the development of a 5th Gen Technology Roadmap to ensure that the ITTC 5th Gen platform and curriculum prepares student fighter pilots and test pilots for advanced fighter aircraft.
Billie Flynn recently retired from Lockheed Martin as Senior F-35 Test Pilot and Fellow after a long and stellar career testing all variants of the F-35 as well as extensive F-16 testing. He is a 23-year veteran of the RCAF and began his military flying career as the first CF-18 pipeliner selected to fly the Hornet. He culminated his Air Force career as the Commanding Officer of the Canadian Task Force Aviano leading combat operations with Operation Allied Force. Post-military, with over 5000 hours and 80 aircraft, he tested the Eurofighter Typhoon, Tornado and F-4 aircraft based in Munich, Germany. Billie is a Fellow and Past President of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots. He is a graduate of the Royal Military College of Canada, the United States Naval Test Pilot School and holds multiple post-graduate degrees.
On his recent visit, Billie spent time familiarizing himself with ITPS facilities and staff. Billie was briefed and introduced to the 5STA Hawker Hunter upgrade and our simulator centre including B787, F-18 and F-35 simulators. The day ended with Billie addressing staff and students in an informal brief on his extraordinary experience flying 5th Gen Fighters.
